October · The Month of the Holy Rosary
If you’re new to the Catholic faith, things like the Rosary, feast days and the lives of the saints can sometimes feel a little unfamiliar. But you don’t need to understand it all before taking part. Sometimes, we come to understand the meaning of something by simply joining in and discovering it along the way. And so, this month, we’re taking a closer look at one of these traditions: the Holy Rosary.
On 7 October, we celebrate the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. This prayer gives us a meaningful way to reflect on the life of Jesus, with Mary by our sides. You don't need to pray it all at once - you can begin with just one decade a day and gradually build on it from there.
October is also filled with feast days, when we remember the lives of saints such as St Thérèse of Lisieux, St Francis of Assisi, St Teresa of Ávila, St Ignatius of Antioch, and Saints Simon and Jude.
So this month, be curious! Ask questions, learn about a saint, or take a few quiet moments to pray the Rosary. You don’t have to know where to begin with everything. Just begin somewhere.
Little gifts to nourish your prayer life and your time in the Word, made freely for you.
